How did we pick the Best Green Roof Companies?
The last two years have incorporated a lot of research into green roofs, including several projects.
But we have included companies that specialise in DIY green roof projects – Roofing Superstore and Roofing Supplies for example – because that’s what we love. But it’s also important to cater for large scale commercial projects.
To account for that we have scoured reviews, projects and the quality of all available products to highlight the best living roof companies around.
Roofing Superstore

Whilst Roofing Superstore doesn’t just focus on green roofs, it has absolutely everything you need to build a DIY green roof. Of any size.
If it’s the modular look you’re after, they stock some brilliant wildflower green roof trays alongside some equally brilliant sedum roof trays. These products are primarily Wallbarn – including drainage membranes and living roof filter fleeces.
You can even purchase entire, pre-grown green roofs. From 15 – 100 metres square in size. So whether you’re a DIY bunny or a ‘sort it all out for me please’ roofer, Roofing Superstore have you covered.
Roofing Supplies

Much like Roofing Superstore, Roofing Supplies sell equally lovely modular sedum and wildflower green roof trays for the ultimate in home assembly. There’s also a sedum only option available for that year round green look.
Its ANS green roofing section has everything you’d need to begin planning a basic green roof. From there on you’d just need to source a drainage layer, filter layer and living roof plants or seeds.
Another excellent DIY green roofing store!
Bauder

Green roofing experts Bauder have installed hundreds, if not thousands of commercial and residential green roofs over the years.
Bauder’s living roofs combines the finished planting scheme AND all the necessary structural and supportive components – drainage, waterproof layers, filtering etc.
If you’re in the market for a larger / more impressive green roof than you know you yourself could create, Bauder are legitimate experts.
Eco Green Roofs

Eco Green Roofs specialise in green, blue-green and biosolar rooftops.
From design through to maintenance, Eco Green Roofs will take care of everyshred of your green roof project from start to finish. And the brand’s years of expertise make the process seamless.
Easy-to-roll sedum mats. Hardy, pre-grown plants. Expert aftercare. Another brand where you don’t have to leave anything to chance. You just have to pay for it. Be it commercial or residential.
Green Roofs Direct

Arguably the most luxurious option on the green roof list, Green Roofs Direct fuss over the details. The Evermat product range is superb.
Their sedum blanket is grown on the Irish coast to ensure it stands up to the harshest conditions and is – almost – maintenance free. GRD do the hard yards so you don’t have to.
You can buy everything you need through – including maintenance packs and root barriers. It even makes its own seaweed fertiliser and has its own limestone carved well.
Zinco

Zinco have pioneered huge projects across the whole of the UK. And it doesn’t just stop at green roofs.
Biosolar projects. Roof gardens. Urban farming. Walkways. Driveways. Stormwater management. You name it or need it, they’ve done it. Roof-wise at least.
Zinco does appear to specialise more in larger projects, but have really outstanding expertise across the living roof spectrum.
Optigrün
Optigrün – green roofing and water management – cover the whole green roof spectrum.
It sells drainage boards and material, substrates, solar mounting frames, planters, edge trims… Everything you need to build a start of the earth, habitat-friendly living roof.
The brand also has a huge amount of really useful technical drawings, data sheets and planning aids for green roofing supplies.
The Green Roof Company
The Green Roof Company is a south of England based roofing contractor with over 30 years of experience in pitched and flat roof properties.
Experts in both green roof new builds and refurbishments, installing multiple green roof gardens, waterproof roof systems amongst other things.
If you have a roof you’d like to transform, but are unsure of its current capacity – waterproofing, structural stability etc – then you could do a whole lot worse than the Green Roof Company.
